Renowned Ghanaian gospel music heavyweight Empress Gifty has dedicated the seven awards she has won this year to President John Dramani Mahama, acknowledging his fatherly guidance and support throughout her musical journey.

The award-winning musician, accompanied by her management team led by Edem Mensah-Tsotorme and her husband Mr. Hopeson Adorye, paid a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

During the visit, Empress Gifty expressed profound appreciation to President Mahama for his mentorship and encouragement over the years. She stated that the purpose of the visit was to officially congratulate him and to share updates on her recent achievements, which she attributes partly to his continuous inspiration and fatherly counsel.

“You have been a father figure to me for many years. I’m here to say thank you for your guidance and to dedicate my awards to you. Your encouragement has contributed immensely to my success,”

Empress Gifty further appealed to the President to consider constructing a large-capacity auditorium, seating between 10,000 and 30,000 people, to support the growth of Ghana’s creative arts industry. She emphasized that such a facility would not only enhance event organization but also position Ghana as a prime destination for major international concerts and festivals.

She also called on the government to allocate a substantial budget to the creative arts sector in the coming fiscal year, noting that increased investment would yield significant socio-economic benefits.

President Mahama, in response, expressed his pride and admiration for Empress Gifty’s accomplishments, describing her as a “daughter” whose dedication and success continue to inspire many.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to the creative industry, revealing that designs and proposals for a modern convention centre—which would serve as a multipurpose event space—are already under consideration. He assured that once funding and approvals are finalized, the project would significantly transform the entertainment landscape in Ghana.

President Mahama concluded by pledging continued budgetary and policy support for the creative arts sector in subsequent years, recognizing its crucial role in national development.
