Ghanaian urban gospel sensation Scott Evans has shared candid insights about his experiences in the music industry. Speaking with Steve Owusu, popularly known as the Shishiishi Man, on the Christians Connect Show on EnergyRadio 91.1FM in Accra, Scott Evans revealed the biggest lesson he has learned as an artist: not to expect anything from the industry.
When asked about his journey and observations as a gospel musician, Scott Evans explained that the industry often revolves around the interests of its stakeholders rather than genuinely supporting artistes. “The industry has conversations and does things that only interest themselves,” he stated, pointing out how some men of God prefer to invite only artistes with hit songs and huge followings to their churches, mainly to pull crowds rather than to support talent.
Despite these challenges, Scott Evans acknowledged the positive role the industry has played in amplifying his career. He expressed appreciation for the recognition his music has received through various industry schemes, adding that such platforms have helped trumpet his work to wider audiences.
Scott Evans’ remarks shed light on the complex realities of the gospel music scene in Ghana, highlighting both the struggles and opportunities that artistes encounter. His openness serves as both a wake-up call to industry stakeholders and encouragement to upcoming artistes to remain focused, authentic, and not overly reliant on industry expectations.
