Steve Owusu, popularly known as The Shishiishi Man, has called on the organizers of the Praise Achievement Awards to expand their award categories to recognize key stakeholders who play major roles in the growth of the Ghanaian Christian gospel music industry.

He made this call during his Christians Connect show, which he hosts on Energy Radio 91.1 FM every Monday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. According to him, while gospel artistes are often celebrated, several professionals who work behind the scenes continue to make immense contributions that deserve formal recognition.

In a video shared on his Facebook and Instagram pages, Steve Owusu stated:

“By special grace, God has made me a voice in the Ghanaian Christian Gospel Space to advocate positively for the industry.”

He further highlighted how he previously proposed that the Praise Achievement Awards should enhance the Best Christian Blogger category by adding practical rewards such as a phone, laptop, or a yearly internet subscription to support the winner’s work. This recommendation was implemented at the most recent edition, leading to Sog Precious receiving a brand-new iPhone 15.

Building on this success, Steve Owusu is now advocating for the introduction of new award categories at the Praise Achievement Awards, specifically to recognize the following contributors:

Proposed Praise Achievement Awards Categories

  • Best Gospel Artiste Manager
  • Best Gospel Event Photographer
  • Best Gospel Backing Vocalist
  • Best Gospel Music Director

“These individuals add significant value to the growth, excellence, and sustainability of the gospel music industry and must be recognized in a meaningful way,” he emphasized.

He concluded by thanking the organizers of the Praise Achievement Awards and all stakeholders committed to the advancement of the Ghanaian Christian gospel music space.
