Award-winning gospel artiste Empress Gifty has finally broken her silence following widespread backlash over her recent declaration that she would not perform at any event unless paid a minimum of GH₵50,000. The comment sparked a social media storm, with many accusing her of pride and commercializing ministry.

In a strongly-worded post shared on her official platforms, Empress Gifty addressed the controversy head-on, clarifying her intentions and setting the record straight.

> “Out of reciprocity for how Koo Nhyira promoted my ‘Watch Me’, I decided to absolve the cost of my band and others,” she began.

She explained that although she usually charges for performances due to the expenses involved in delivering quality ministry—including her band, equipment, transportation, and rehearsals—there are exceptions based on relationships and context.

> “On the stage, I said this would have cost him, but for what he did for me, I went all out for him for free and went ahead to sow a seed in addition.”

Gifty emphasized that her decision to support Koo Nhyira’s event without charge was out of genuine appreciation and loyalty, not a publicity stunt. She expressed disappointment in how some media outlets had twisted her words:

> “Don’t twist what people say for your parochial interest. The hatred and dirty propaganda against me by these barbaric blogs must stop.”

She warned that continued defamation could lead to legal consequences:

> “If it continues, they will see what they want to see — a legal battle.”
